South-Dayi Assembly to re-award abandoned HIPC projects

Kpeve (V/R), March 12, (Nyatsikor) GNA- The South-Dayi District Assembly is to re-award all abandoned HIPC projects in the district including a three-classroom block with office and store for the Kaira Junior High School.

Mrs Woyram Boakye-Danquah, the District Chief Executive who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said the assembly had made efforts to contact contractors working on the projects to no avail.

Mr John Ahorsu Assemblyman for Kaira area expressed worry at the abandonment of the Kaira school project awarded as far back as February 2005 to Steve Wellington Company Limited of Accra at the cost of 30,100 Ghana cedis.

He said the project was to have been completed in May the same year.

Speaking at the first Speech and prize day of the Kaira school, Mr Ahorsu said the project for which an initial amount of 4,515 Ghana cedis had been paid to the contractor had remained at the lintel level resulting in congestion in classrooms affecting effective teaching and learning.
