Some head teachers misapplying Capitation Grant

Daboase (W/R), May 06, GNA – Mr Edward Tawiah Amprofi, the Mpohor Wassa East District Chief Executive, has said audit reports indicated that some headteachers in the district were misapplying the Capitation Grant.

Speaking at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the district assembly at Daboase, he said the headteachers had not been following the modalities on the disbursement of the grant. Mr Amprofi said headteachers drawing money from the grant are suppose to sign the form together with their assistants and the chairman of the School Management Committee.

He said this rule has not been followed and some headteachers cash money from the grant without the signature of their assistants and the chairman of their schools management committee. Mr Amprofi said measures would be taken to plug the loopholes and bring the culprits to book.

He said Sanitiaw/Tsintsimtwe District Council (D/C) Primary School, Sekyere-Nsuta D/C Primary School and Beenuye and Mamponso Catholic Primary School have been selected for the School Feeding Programme in the district in addition to Accra New Town Primary School. Mr Amprofi said the construction of a 200-capacity dining hall for Accra New Town Primary School at a cost of 133.2 million cedis is about 60 per cent completed.

He said in the other schools the communities have taken it upon themselves to provide kitchens and stores with assistance in the form of building materials from the district assembly.
