Soldiers asked to reflect on their oath of allegiance

Air Commodore Kwame Punpuni, a retired Air Force Officer, on Friday called on soldiers to soberly reflect on their oath of allegiance to Ghana and the government and be faithful at all times.

“You have committed your lives to safeguard and protect the security, territorial integrity of the nation and must also be respectful to civilians you have been trained to protect ” he said.

Commodore Punpuni was addressing the passing out parade of 186 cadet corps of the Ghana Air Force including 50 women at the Takoradi Air Force Station.

He noted that their ability to go through the “tough and tedious” training successfully demonstrates your ability to overcome all obstacles” and advised them to remain properly focused.

“This six months training in basic military skills and various exercises was aimed at building your confidence, stamina, team spirit and inculcating in you a sense of cooperation,” he stressed.

Commodore Punpuni advised the soldiers to continuously train adding that such training would prepare them for various field of endeavour.

Brigadier R. Awuku, Station Officer Commanding the Ghana Air Force, administered the oath of allegiance while Air Commodore Punpuni reviewed the parade made up of 14 officers and 186 recruits at which the Air Force Band provided music.

Aircraftman Class II Pricilla Dzoku aged 22 emerge the overall best cadet.

She also took the award for the best in academics; tactics and field craft skill while Abdullai Baba took the award for drill with Kemstson Tengey receiving the award for the best weapon handling.
