Six seriously injured in accident at Asikuma

Asikuma (E/R), Aug. 13, GNA – Six people seriously sustained various degree of injuries when an Urvan bus and a Hyundai bus on which they were travelling crashed into each other on Friday at the Asikuma Junction.

Mr Prosper Adu, First Trustee of the Anum-Boso branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, who witnessed the accident, said the Hyundai bus, travelling from Peki had a brake failure on reaching the Junction.

He said the Hyundai driver, who swerved all of a sudden towards Ho direction to avoid plunging into a bush nearby, fell on its side and the Urvan bus run into it.

Foster Tay, who was driving the Urvan, said he had just gone over a speed rump and was picking up speed when all of sudden the Hyundai fell on its side crossing his path.

Mr Adu said the GPRTU had persistently urged drivers to be extra careful when approaching the Asikuma Junction.

He said “No Parking” sign at the Junction was often ignored by drivers and he appealed to the Police and the Asuogyaman District Assembly to help to enforce driving regulations in the area.
