Six die in Gomoa Okyereko motor accident

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA – Six persons died on the spot and four others sustained various degrees injury at Gomoa Okyreko, near Winneba when a Ford bus collided head-on with a tipper truck on Friday.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Nicholas Gasu, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Winneba District Police Command, said the bus was travelling from Elimina to Accra. On reaching Gomoa Okyreko and in an attempt to overtake another vehicle in a curve on top of a hill, the bus collided with the truck, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The injured are on admission at the Winneba Hospital while the dead had been deposited at the Winneba Mortuary for autopsy. Mr Gasu said neither the dead nor the injured have been identified, adding that Mr Samuel Tetteh, the driver of the bus and Paapa Painsil, the driver of the tipper track were helping the Police with their investigations.
