Sidalco assists five schools in Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District

Suhum(ER), Sept. 30, GNA – The management of Sidalco Company Limited dealers in agro-chemicals, on Thursday presented educational materials worth GHC1, 000 to five schools in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District in the Eastern Region.

The schools are, Otwebediadua, Donkortehwa, Abortowa, Kwano Islam and Nankese Abesim Yeboah District Assembly Primary Schools. The materials included certified reading books by the Ghana Education Service, dictionaries and writing materials. Addressing a cross section of pupils in Suhum, Mr. David Lamptey, Chief Executive Officer of Sidalco Company, said the presentation formed part of the company’s social responsibility to assist the vulnerable in society.

He said to promote education in the district; management had decided to build a six-unit-classroom block, with an ICT facility at Otwebediadua, to enable the pupils access knowledge in ICT. The Otwebediadua District Assembly Primary School established in 1963, has not been renovated, and lacked teaching and learning materials which affected effective and efficient teaching and learning. Mr. Lamptey appealed to parents stop lavish spending and provide basic needs of their children to enable them to attend school. Mr. Emmanuel Mensah, Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Director of Education, thanked the company for the gesture.

In a related development, Management of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), presented 10 boxes of cocoa products and 100 bed nets to the Suhum Government Hospital as part of activities marking this year’s Cocoa Producing Alliance (COPAL) Day on Thursday, October 1. Mr. Anthony Fofie, Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, who made the presentation, said it was part of the company’s social responsibility. Mr. John Amankwah, Hospital Administrator, receiving the items, thanked the management for the gesture.
