Show you’re a human right activist and call AG to order – Woyome to Akufo-Addo

Embattled Businessman, Alfred Woyome wants President Akufo-Addo to intervene in what he describes as the persecution against him by calling the Attorney General to order.

This follows some police and military men reportedly besieging his Trassaco residence on Tuesday over the ¢51.2 million wrongfully paid to him.

Their presence at Mr Woyome’s house was to enable officers from the Lands Commission to value his Trassaco residence, after the Supreme Court in a letter dated September 13, requested the Lands Commission to value some four properties belonging to the debtor [Mr Woyome].

They include House No. 16B,6th Street at Tesano, one residential property at Kpehe and two residential properties at Trassaco, all in Accra.

But Mr Woyome, in an interview with Kasapa News urged President Akufo-Addo to respect his human right and rein in his appointees in, since his case is still pending before the African Court on Human and People’s Rights.

“The African Court has served them so why this, they can’t take money from anybody by force. Apart from the Executive doing this, the Judiciary is also involved and this raises serious human rights issues and doubts about the freedom of the Ghanaian under this very regime.”

He added that he has not refused to obey the orders of the Supreme Court, but “If the Constitution empowers me to seek justice until I exhaust all avenues, nobody should disrespect my human rights.”

The Supreme Court in 2014 ruled that the NDC financier had no valid contract with the state and that the ¢51.2 million was wrongfully paid to him.

Though Woyome has promised to refund the money he resorted to petitioning various international courts to seek an arbitration.

He last petitioned the International Commerce Chamber Court (ICC), but his case was thrown out in August, but his case at the African Court on Human and People’s Rights is ongoing.
