Seventy-eight NFED facilitators honoured

Kuntanase (Ash), Jan 22, GNA – Seventy-eight non-formal education facilitators in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district who had completed their two-year facilitating programme were on Friday honoured by the district assembly at Kuntanase. They were presented with sewing machines, ghetto blasters and bicycles.

Making the presentation, Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the District Chief Executive, cautioned the facilitators to avoid being partisan since that was the surest way by which they could create a good image for the non-formal education programme. The DCE debunked the erroneous impression that the facilitators were political agents and called on the people to co-operate with them to make the programme achieve its desired goals.

He announced that government had put in place measures to sustain the programme of enhancing literacy in the country when USAID, the main sponsors of the programme pulled out at the end of the year. Mr John Alexandra Addai, the District Co-ordinator of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED), commended the facilitators for their selflessness, dedication and commitment to duty, which had enhanced their roles in the communities.
