Sekou: Ghanaians are living in danger

Ghanaians are said to be living in absolute danger of poverty, lack of jobs, poor health and environmental sanitation. This dangerous way of living is worse than living in conflict zones of Africa according to Dr. Sekou Nkrumah.
The last son of the first president of Ghana (Dr. Kwame Nkrumah) made this assertion on PLUZZ 89.9 FM when contributing to the breakfast show; “PLUZZ TODAY” on Wednesday January 15th 2014. The topic for discussion was “the repercussion of high rate of youth unemployment on Ghana and what can be done to curtail the worrying trend of unemployment”.
Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, a former head of the Ghana Youth Council (now Authority) noted that the situation has come to stay due to lack of visionary and corrupt-free leadership. He said apart from the regime led by his father, successive governments have done nothing to bring hope to the youth.
He blamed the high rate of unemployment on Ghanaian leaders’ ability to fashion out proper educational programmes that could equip the individual with requisite knowledge and expertise in the job market.
Dr. Sekou Nkrumah wondered why with all the abundant natural resources majority of Ghanaians still live under abject poverty. He disagreed with politicians who say that the individuals must establish their own jobs saying it is the duty of government to establish jobs for their people and also create the enabling environment for private businesses to thrive.
In his usual elements, Dr. Nkrumah charged the youth to stand up against the bogus political leadership of both the NDC and the NPP. He disclosed his non-affiliation to any party again and described himself as a political activist.
