Sekondi NPP Keep-fit Club Inaugurated.

Sekondi, Sept.12, -GNA – Papa Owusu Ankomah, Member of Parliament for Sekondi on Sunday inaugurated the Sekondi constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Keep-Fit club at Sekondi with a call on the youth to remain loyal to the Kufuor administration.

He said the Government had kept faith with the people and the evidence was “overwhelming” in the number of social, economic, health and educational infrastructure that had been provided as well as the other on-going ones.

Papa Owusu Ankomah called on the people to ignore the notion that the NPP could not fulfil its 2000 campaign promises. He said that “Indeed we have fulfilled our promises and the evidence is there for all to see”.

Papa Ankomah who is also the Attorney General and Minister of Justice said no government had performed so tremendously for the country since independence in such relatively short period of three and half years.

He said the government was set to perform even much better if given the mandate for a second term of office especially now that most development structures had been firmly put in place to enhance growth. The Minister urged supporters of the NPP to stand solidly behind the Party and tell the “NPP success story” through sound and logical arguments and not through violence and personal attacks or insults. He said the opposition should take a cue from the NPP which remained patient in opposition for the 19 years of National Democratic Congress rule.

Papa Ankomah said the Party would soon launch a book titled, “NPP, so far so good” which tells the achievements of the Party since it came to power in 2000.

Mr Joe Ghartey, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Essikadu-Ketan constituency said the party is committed to peaceful and fair elections and advised its supporters to avoid violence. He assured them that he would deliver to their expectation if he wins the seat.

Earlier hundreds of supporters of the party, mostly the youth dressed in the Party’s “T” shirts and other regalia, paraded through the streets accompanied by brass band and “asafo” music.
