Security Committee orders Fulani herdsmen to relocate

Mampong (Ash), Oct. 27, GNA – The Asante-Mampong Municipal Security Committee has given Fulani herdsmen in the area two weeks to re-locate with their cattle.

Mr Daniel Appau Ohyeamang, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the herdsmen had up to Friday, November 4, to leave peacefully or be thrown out.

He told an ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Asante-Mampong that they had formally informed the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) about the decision.

Several hectares of crop farms and farmlands at 93Kontonho” had been destroyed by the herds of cattle and this could not be allowed to continue, Mr Ohyeamang said, adding that the Assembly could no longer accommodate the lawlessness and atrocities of the Fulani.

The Committee had inspected the destroyed farms and was amazed at the havoc caused.

The MCE who is also chairman of the Security Committee, called on the assembly members to remain vigilant and closely monitor the activities of the herdsmen in their communities.
