Scrap dealer jailed six years for stealing

Akyem Swedru, Jan. 25, GNA – The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced Rasak Usman, a 19- year-old scrap dealer, to six years imprisonment in hard labour for breaking into a school and stealing property.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo told the court that on January 07 the Headmaster of Saint Andrews Preparatory School at Akyem Oda discovered that the school’s storeroom had been broken into and three big aluminium pots and other items were stolen. He went to scrap dealers operating in the area and sought their assistance in apprehending the culprits.

The prosecutor said the scrap dealers later arrested Usman and took him to the police station as the one who stole the items. The items were later retrieved. 25 Jan. 07
