Scrap dealer in jail for stealing car radiator

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court has imposed a two-year-jail term on an Akim Oda based scrap dealer for stealing a car radiator.

Mustapha Abubakari, 25, pleaded guilty to having in his possession a stolen property.

Police Inspector Richard Sabbah told the Court that on April 1 last year, the Akim Swedru Police Patrol Team intercepted a Hyundai Grace mini-bus with Abubakari on board and a search on the bus revealed a car radiator and some cables concealed in a fertilizer sack.

He said when the convict was confronted he admitted ownership of the items and told the police that he picked them from an abandoned sawmill at Akim Achiase.

Inspector Sallah said the police escorted Abubakari to the sawmill where it was detected that he stole the cables from a plant at Jowak Sawmill, but he could not tell where he stole the car radiator from.
