Schroeder to visit Ghana

Accra, Jan. 8, GNA – Gerhard Schroeder, the German Chancellor would pay a two-day state visit to Ghana beginning on the January 23 The visit is the first ever to the country by a German Chancellor and is at the invitation of President John Agyekum Kufuor.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr Kwabena Agyapong, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman, said Chancellor Schroeder’s visit underscored the deepening diplomatic and fraternal relations between Ghana and the Federal Republic of Germany under President Kufuor’s administration.

The statement said Germany has committed 118 million dollars since 2001 to a variety of socio-economic projects in Ghana. It said that during the visit the two leaders would discuss bilateral issues of mutual concern to both countries and contemporary global events.
