Schools in the Effutu Municipality obtain100 per cent passes in the 2012 BECE

The Effutu Municipal Director of Education, Madam Elizabeth Amoako-Ennimil, has said schools in the Municipality obtained 100 per cent passes in the 2012 Basic Education Certificate Examination with aggregate between 6 and 40.

She said 979 candidates sat for the examination out of which the boys had 78 per cent while girls obtained 84 per cent.

Madam Amoak-Ennimil said this at a day’s school performance appraisal meeting (SPAM) at Winneba.

The programme was attended by chiefs, parents, school management committees, teachers, assembly members and the clergy was under the theme “Enhancing Education Performance in the Municipality” with sponsorship by Plan Ghana.

Madam Amoako-Ennimil said the Directorate during the year under review embarked on strategy dubbed “teaching to examination” under which teachers taught two hours before and after school and four hours every Saturday and this contributed to the 100 per cent passes.

The meeting discussed the performance of the schools, identified and discussed challenges militating against the quality of education delivery.

They set range of achievable targets for various levels for both the least and best performing schools and also developed strategies to achieve the targets they set.

She said education is a collective responsibility of all the stakeholders and no one should be blamed for poor performance of the candidates.

Nii Ephraim, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive who chaired the programme, appealed to the stakeholders to give off their best to supplement efforts of the government at providing the necessary infrastructure.
