School Fails To Present Candidate For SSSCE

The Gyamfi Kumanini Senior Secondary/Technical School at Wamahinso, near Ntotroso in the Asutifi District of Brong-Ahafo Region, could not present any candidate for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination last year, but it has taken action to improve its prospects this year.

The unfortunate situation stemmed from the lack of qualified tutors to prepare the students for the examination and the lack of relevant textbooks on the course being run by the school namely; General Arts, Technical and Agricultue. According to the headmaster of the school, Mr. Jacob Adjei-Ntim, when he took over in 2001, the student, population was 14.

The headmaster was speaking to the “Times Newspaper” in an interview during the People’s Assembly held here, on Monday. He said the school had a peculiar problem running the courses because of the lack of qualified tutors. Therefore candidates who were supposed to have been promoted to form three to be prepared for the examination in 2003, were not, Mr. Adjei-Ntim stated, with the agreement of all stakeholders of education in the district and the region as a whole.
