School authorities query teachers for failing to resume work

Mpasatia (Ash), June 20, GNA – Authorities of the Mpasatia Secondary/Technical School in the Atwima-Mponua District of Ashanti, have queried six tutors of the school, for refusing to resume classes after the suspension of the strike action by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT).

The query letters asked the teachers to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for failing to report for duty. Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyamfi, Headmaster of the school, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Mpasatia at the weekend, however, declined to mention the names of the affected teachers.

He said that even though NAGRAT was seeking the interest of all teachers, members of the association should intensify teaching so that students could make up for the time lost, after the suspension of the strike.

Mr Adu-Gyamfi expressed regret that the teachers, who failed to report to work, were handling final year students.
