Scholarship board inaugurated for Akuapem Guan

Larteh-Akuapem (E/R), April 25, GNA- A 10-member board of trustees for the Akuapem Guan Educational Trust Fund was on Monday inaugurated at a ceremony at Larteh in the Akuapem North district.

The board which is under the chairmanship of Nana Asiedu Okoo Ababio, Omanhene of Akuapem Guan, is charged to find sources of funds to establish scholarships and bursaries for needy but brilliant pupils and students in the Akuapem Guan traditional area.

Briefing newsmen after the inauguration, Nana Okoo Ababio, said part of the funds would be used to rehabilitate educational infrastructures in the area and procure teaching and learning equipment for the schools.

He did not disclose the target set of the fund but said a lot of money was needed in order to achieve its objectives. Nana Ababio said as a pilot scheme, the traditional council has selected 80 pupils from three junior secondary schools in Larteh to be giving extratuition before their final examinations.
