Former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has publicly recognised her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo (Akofena), as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
In a statement focused on reconciliation, Ms Safo said she was seeking to restore unity within the family and protect the legacy of their late father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo.
She said the family should now put aside any differences, misunderstandings and grievances that may have emerged after their father’s death.
“I have chosen the path of conciliation, founded upon love, mutual respect and the enduring undisputed bonds of family,” she said.
Ms Safo said she had great love and respect for her brother and was accepting him publicly in recognition of their father’s wishes.
She added that Israel Kwadwo Safo had her full backing and that she was ready to work with him for the benefit of the family and the church.
“He has my full support, and I state unequivocally, that, I am prepared and willing to work together with him in the interest of the family and the Church, in furtherance of our father’s Vision and Legacy,” she said.
Ms Safo described Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo’s legacy as both a shared inheritance and a serious responsibility for his children.
She said the family had a duty to move beyond its divisions, protect what their father had established and ensure that his principles continued to guide future generations.
She also called on members of the Kristo Asafo Church, the wider Kantanka family and others connected with her father’s work during his lifetime to recognise and respect the family’s unity.
“Let us embrace this new chapter with reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose,” she said.
Her statement included goodwill and best wishes for Israel Kwadwo Safo and her other siblings as they began what she described as a renewed journey based on peace and forgiveness.
Ms Safo said she hoped the new chapter would lead to healing, greater unity and renewed strength for the family as it sought to honour and continue Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo’s legacy.
