SAEMA completes 16 HIPC projects

Sekondi June 2 GNA – The Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) has completed 16 Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Fund projects out of the 27 projects it began this year.

The 27 HIPC projects is estimated at 8.6 billion cedis, Nana Yaw Boateng, the Metropolitan Engineer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sekondi on Wednesday.

He said the 16 completed projects were at Beposo, Whindo and Sekondi. Nana Boateng said the 11 on-going projects were taking place at Essikado, European Town, Apremdo, Anaji, Assorko-Essaman and Asakai. He said the projects included classroom blocks, Doctors’ bungalows and nurses’ quarters, Early Child Development Centres and the Metropolitan Health Administration building.

Nana Boateng said the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) was also funding the construction of three blocks of six-classrooms at a cost of 1.6 billion cedis at Axim Road Key Primary School, Shama Methodist Primary School and Ashiem Primary School.
