SADA rot: GHc2m blown on unapproved foreign trips

Massive wasteful expenditure has been uncovered in the management of the Savanah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) by the Auditor General.

Details of the 2013 auditor general’s report cited by Starrfmonline.com has revealed huge spending by SADA on unapproved foreign trips and consultancy services.

An amount of almost two million Ghana cedis was uncovered to have been spent on foreign trips to Birmingham, Berlin and Turkey in 2013 without approval.

Also uncovered was a significant expenditure on consultancy services within the same period which cost over 620,000 Ghana cedis.

The auditor general in its report forwarded to parliament described the expenditure as “wasteful” and “excessive”.

The auditor general believes programs of SADA could be better managed than currently prevailing.
