Round table conference on the development of Tema

Tema, Nov 12, GNA – The Tema Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TRCCI) has organised a round table conference in collaboration with the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA), to brainstorm on how to accelerate the development of the industrial city.

The conference which was on the theme: “The Facelift of Tema Municipality, Prospects, Challenges and Responsibilities”, deliberated on topics such as: “Waste Management”, “The Duplication of the Activities of the TMA and Tema Development Corporation”. Mr Samuel Evans Ashong Narh, the Municipal Chief Executive said the TMA spends about 400 million cedis a month on environmental sanitation.

He said government grant to the districts assemblies for waste management was woefully inadequate and called on for collaborative to efforts to deal with the sanitation problems confronting the Municipality.

Mr Wilson A. Krofah, an Executive Member of the TRCCI noted that Tema being the gateway to Ghana and the West African Sub-Region should have a clean environment to attract investors. Prince Amoako Nuamah, Chairman of the TRCCI expressed the commitment of the Chamber to collaborate with the Government and other development partners to address the many challenges confronting the private sector.
