Rotary Club of RRC Inaugurates Water Project

The Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central has inaugurated a water project at the Countryside Children’s Welfare Home at Ewutu-Bawjiase in the Central Region. The project was connected from the Bawjiase main town with a 1,200-metre pipeline.

The cost of the project was $10,200 and a local component of ?50 million. The Rotary Club of Dublin, Ireland District 5170 and the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, District 9100 contributed these amounts.

In his speech, the president of RRC, Rotarian Eddie Dapaah, noted that government alone could not shoulder the task of community building. He said that it is against this background that his club has stepped in to provide a helping hand.

He further said that the gesture was in fulfilment of the club’s commitment to help develop community and improve living standards of the needy in society. On this note, he urged other organisations and philanthropists to join the crusade.

He further revealed that his club would soon start an electrification project for the orphanage and provide a means of transport.

The mother of the home, Mrs. Yeboah, on behalf of the orphanage, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central for sowing the seeds of love in their home to make life more meaningful for the less fortunate children.

She said that currently the home has 106 orphans, 15 of them under the age of two, 16 below five years, 30 are below 12 years and 45 children are above the age of 12.

The father of the home said they have gone in to agriculture to make the home self-sustaining. Rotary International Director, Paul Sandas, inaugurated the project.
