Rotary Club donates to Neuroscience Unit

Accra, Sept. 27, GNA – The Accra East Rotary International Club on Tuesday donated medical equipment worth 30,000 dollars to the Neuroscience Department of the Ghana Medical School at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The items included surgical equipment, mattresses, computers, crutches, wheelchairs and blankets.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Francis Ofori Mante, President of the Club, said the donation was made in fulfilment of the Club’s annual celebrations under the theme: “Promoting Health, Education, Water and Eliminating Hunger”.

Mr Ofori Mante said this was the first time the club was donating to the Hospital adding that items were procured after a needs assessment done by the Unit and Doctors from British Colombia, Canada, who assisted with the fundraising.

The Most Reverend Samuel Asante Antwi, Chairman of the Neuroscience Department, who received the donation, thanked the Club for the gesture. The Rotary International Club is a humanitarian service organisation that addresses poverty, health and educational issues. It was the first club to start with the Polio Plus Immunisation in Ghana and has 53 branches in the country.
