Tema, May 3, GNA – A former student of Keta Secondary School, Koblah Akahoho who used his acquaintances to befriend and impregnate a 14 year old house help and aborted the pregnancy has been remanded into custody by the Tema Circuit Court “B”.
Kobla Akahoho was charged with defilement and abortion while Dr Lwin Koku, a Romanian Medical Doctor at Meridian Clinic and Heartwill Dornu, who were in the dock with Akaho, were charged with conducting illegal abortion and abetment of crime, respectively.
They all pleaded not guilty. Lwin and Heartwill were granted 50 million cedis bail with surety each to reappear on May 12, 2004. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the Court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on January 20, the Complainant, who stayed at Sakumono Estate, realised that the House Help had become pregnant and decided to send her to hospital.
The Complainant asked the girl to go to her (the Complainant’s) mother to wait for her while she sent her child to a school in Tema. However, on her return, she could not trace the whereabouts of the girl. Chief Inspector Nutakor said the Complainant reported the matter to the Police, at Sakumono and while at the Police Station the girl appeared. It was discovered that the trousers she was wearing was soaked with blood.
Police investigations revealed that it was Heartwill, who sent the victim to Meridian Clinic in Tema under the instructions of Akahoho and Dr Lwin performed the abortion.
