Robbers kill 4 in Bekwai

Four persons have been confirmed dead after they were shot by suspected robbers at Kotwea, a farming community near Bekwai in the Ashanti Region on Friday July 14, 2017.

Police in the area who confirmed the incident to mynewsgh.com, said the identities of the deceased persons believed to be residents of the community is yet to be made public.

According to a resident who spoke on Accra-based Adom Fm, the two robbers stormed the community on an unregistered motorbike on Friday night and after robbing their victims at gunpoint and were fleeing the community, the four mustered courage and pursued them with a salon vehicle.

On reaching the outskirts of the village, the robbers realized they were being trailed by the four and fired at the vehicle killing the driver on the spot.

The salon vehicle as a result screeched to a halt.

They got closer and shot the other three before fleeing the scene.

Other road users who spotted the four lifeless bodies in the vehicle later, reported the matter to the police who rushed to the scene but they were long dead before they arrived.

The bodies of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Bekwai Government Hospital morgue while police indicate that investigations have commenced.
