Accra, 1, GNA – The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) on Thursd= ay appealed to road users to be cautious as they travel to their various destinations during the Easter festivities. A statement issued in Accra by Mr Kwame Atuahene, Information Manage= r of NRSC, said road clashes increased during the season due to high mobili= ty resulting in a number of fatalities.
It said the NRSC with the support of the Driver Vehicle and Licensin= g Authority; Motor, Traffic and Traffic Union of the Ghana Police Service a= nd transport operators, would intensify their outreach programmes to road us= ers and carry out spot checks.
“The police will be highly visible on the roads to check and punish traffic violations,” the statement said.
It advised all road users especially those using the Kwahu corridor to observe all road traffic regulations, roads signs and markings, avoid dra= nk driving, overloading, over-speeding and careless manoeuvres and plan thei= r trips.
“It is our expectation that if we (Ghanaians) observe best road practice, there will be a peaceful and accident-free Easter celebration,”= it said. Road safety, the statement said: “Is a collective responsibility.”
