Rlg promotes ICT training in Central Region

Cape Coast, Sept. 25, GNA – Twenty teachers and 10 circuit supervisors in the Central Region, who underwent training in Information, Communication Technology (ICT) with rlg Institute of Technology have been presented with certificates of participation.

The training programme organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Education as part of its ICT education initiative was aimed at equipping teachers with the requisite knowledge on the use of computers to promote the teaching of science.

The programme coincided with the distribution of 50 rlg branded laptop computers to Mankessim Secondary/Technical, Kwegyire Aggrey, Gomoa, Apam and Saltpond Senior High Schools.

Mr Kofi Safo-Kantanka, Regional Director of Education paid tribute to the Ministries of Education and Environment, Science and Technology for the initiative, which he said would go a long way to upgrade the skills of teachers in teaching ICT.

He expressed gratitude to the rlg Company for training the teachers as well as the prompt delivery of the computers and urged heads of the beneficiary schools to regularly maintain the facilities to prolong their lifespan and sustain the ICT programme.

The Group Head of Corporate Affairs of rlg, Mr Samuel Fletcher who made the presentation underscored the need for private/public partnership particularly in the area of ICT to facilitate the “Better Ghana” ICT project by the government.

He also applauded the initiative and indicated that the effective teaching of ICT would strengthen and promote the teaching and learning of science.

Mr Fletcher asked the beneficiary schools to make good use of the computers to attract assistance from his organisation.
