Riverdale connects with Ghana city

Riverdale made a connection with a city across the Atlantic Ocean Thursday.

Riverdale City Manager E. Scott Wood and Councilwoman Cynthia Stamps-Jones met with Titus Glover, a representative of Tema East, an area similar to an American city.

Glover arrived with representatives from Transatlantic Business Development Resources, a Georgia-based company planning to develop facilities in the area Glover helps represent. The group asked questions about Riverdale’s Town Center and how the city provides services to its residents.

“What I’m seeing is amazing,” Glover said.

Wood explained to the guests how the city government works and interacts with the county government. Stamps-Jones explained how Riverdale’s Town Center was born out of Riverdale’s desire to be a close-knit community.

The meeting concluded with a tour of the facilities.

The representatives from the two cities expressed interest in becoming “sister cities” in the future.
