Residents of Cape Coast Metropolis undertake cleanup

Cape Coast, Feb. 15, GNA – Residents of Cape Coast Metropolis supported by Zoomlion Company, on Saturday organised a cleanup exercise to rid the area of filth and stench. The residents, personnel from the Ghana Prisons Service, Fire Service, the Police, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), market women, members of Ankaful Youth Association and Staff of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly disilted gutters, cleared weedy areas, swept the main streets and scrubbed some facilities including the Kotokuraba market.

Mrs Rhoda Donkor, Central Regional Coordinator of Zoomlion said the exercise was in response to President John Evans Atta Mills’ pledge to make Ghana a clean place within the first 100 days in office. He appealed to the people to ensure a clean environment to avoid communicable diseases and urged the assembly to strictly enforce bye-laws on sanitation. 15 Feb. 09
