Residents of Bredi launch two-year development programme

Bredi Number One, (B/A), Jan. 28, GNA – Residents of Bredi Number one in the Nkoranza South District of the Brong-Ahafo Region have launched a two-year development programme to undertake a number of development projects. Projects envisaged include the drilling of three boreholes, construction of a day-care centre and a scholarship scheme to support brilliant but needy students.

Mr Nicholas Kwadwo Adjei, an opinion leader of the town disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency during the celebration of the Annual Krufie Yam Festival of the area. He said the projects would be funded with proceeds from fund-raising rallies. Mr Adjei noted that the one borehole in the area could not meet the demand of the increasing population and there was the need to construct additional ones. He said the community’s Educational Endowment Fund had been supporting some students in senior high schools and tertiary institutions.

Mr Adu Boahen, Unit Committee Chairman explained that since education was key to development, the community leaders would not relent in their efforts to promote education in the area. He called on parents to support and encourage their children to attain higher laurels in their education and cautioned students against alcoholism, drug abuse and illicit sexual practice.
