The Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda has endorsed the arrest and prosecution of residents who refused to take part in the National Sanitation Exercise over the weekend.
The Minister says “if some people are not adhering to the directive by the government to undertake such exercise, they must be arrested and prosecuted”.
Some residents who refused to take part in the weekend exercise at Madina and its environs were arrested and fined for not taking part in the exercise.
The 15th National Sanitation Exercise took place Saturday across the country but the waste generated from the exercise has not been cleared two days after the exercise.
Collins Dauda speaking on Onua 95.1 FM’s Yensempa urged residents in areas with uncollected waste to exercise patience because nt because the refuse will be cleared soon.
The Minister says the various assemblies have been tasked to ensure the organization exercise and the clearing so every assembly is aware of its responsibility.
Alhaji Dauda explained that “the exercise just like the old communal labour that we used to do in our villages so every resident must participate in the exercise”.
