Kumasi, Jan 11, GNA – A transporter owner has appealed to religious leaders to be up to their responsibility by ensuring society is rid of indiscipline and immoral acts.
Mr Sumaila Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Welfare Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, said religious leaders would be failing in their duty if they sat down unconcerned for a calamity to befall the nation as a result of immoral acts such as indecent dressing by the youth.
He said it was sad to note that religious leaders were looking on while the youth, who worship in churches and mosques, walk about in near nudity.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday, Mr Boakye said the development of the nation was not through the hard work of the people alone but also depended on the fear of God. “Indecent dressing and other immoral acts by the youth are preventing God’s blessing and grace from coming to the nation.”
“The way things are going suggest that Ghana has no hope for the future in the youth and there is the need for strenuous efforts to stop some of these acts.”
Mr Boakye appealed to the media not to concentrate all their attention on politics and sports but also speak out against immoral acts.
