Many eligible people in the Sunyani Municipality rushed to register their names as the curtain on the registration exercise came down at 1800 hours on Monday. Although there were no queues many of them could be seen virtually running to the centres on time to beat the deadline when Ghana News Agency toured some of the centres.
The 31st December Day Care Centre in Sunyani recorded the highest number of names on the last day. Mr Yakubu Mohammed, Registration Officer told the GNA that as at 1730 hours the Centre had registered 75 people while about 10 more waited for their turn. He said as at Sunday 988 people had registered since the beginning of the exercise on March 16. At Twene Amanfo Secondary/Technical (TASTECH) 2A Registration Centre, Mr Kelvin Peprah, Registration Officer, said 21 people had registered by 1710 hours on the last day while a total of 404 had responded to the call to register. The 2B Centre registered 19 on Monday.
Mr Aga Bossman Briandt, Assistant Registration Officer, said a total of 403 had registered as at Sunday since the exercise started. At the Queen Elizabeth Day Care Centre 36 registered on the last day with 950 having registered as at Sunday, March 28, Mr Oppong Desmond, Registration Officer told the GNA. At the TASTECH 1A centre, Mr Yaw Brenyah, Registration Officer, told GNA 27 people had registered by 1740 hours on Monday while 466 people had done so up to Sunday. Mr Brenyah showed GNA a surplus of 250 registration forms.
