Regional Minister initiates moves to address Security Coordinator row

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah has assured his commitment to address the current agitation in his region over the removal of the Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei.

This comes in the wake of the dreadful attack on the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei by Delta Force, a pro-NPP vigilante group, Friday.

The Ashanti Region based vigilante group of the ruling NPP on Friday stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and attacked the Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei.

He was appointed by the President for the post but the members of the Delta Force claim they cannot work with Mr. Agyei because he is not from the region, hence he should be removed. The group wants one of their own, who is a leader among them, to be appointed for that position under contention.

But in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, the Regional Minister said he’s started moves to ensure the total resolution of the matter for calm to return to the region.

Meanwhile, the Police have arrested one person suspected to be in connection with the attack.

The suspect believed to be the organizer of the group is assisting with investigations.
