Regent of Dagbon calls for all inclusive government

The Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai has backed calls for Ghana to move from the winner takes all system of government.

He has thus admonished President John Mahama to embrace the all inclusive system of leadership saying, “We pray that the incoming President will embrace his political opponents so that together they can build the better Ghana that we all yearning for.”

The Dagbon Regent who also congratulated all the contestants in the 2012 general elections emphasized that the winner takes all style of leadership has not helped the nation that much.

In an exclusive interview, the Kampakuya-Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai observed, “Ghana has come a long way and I think that with these elections that just passed we are all impressed that our democracy is growing from one stake to another.”

He said the year 2013 should be dedicated as a year of peace to move Ghana forward.

“2013 is a year that I think that we should all dedicate it for peace in Ghana so that the achievements of our past leaders will be realized in this year; I am making a passionate appeal to the leadership and supporters of all the political parties to zealously safeguard Ghana’s treasured peace.”

The Kampakuya Naa further commended the people of Dagbon for their peaceful co-existence over the years.

“Dagbon cannot be seen as a volatile place so when I took the reign, the first thing did was to ensure that peace prevailed in Dagbon and so for the past six years we have enjoyed peace because the people of Dagbon have realized the need to maintain peace for development to be extended to the area.”
