Refrain from defacing opponents’ posters Police Commander

Techiman (B/A), Nov. 21, GNA – Superintendent Solomon K. Ntim, Techiman Municipal Police Commander, has asked political party leaders to educate their supporters to desist from defacing posters of their opponents.

He stressed that an orderly and peaceful atmosphere was needed before, during and after December polls. Supt. Ntim said this while addressing aspiring candidates and supporters of political parties at the Techiman Methodist School Park after a peace walk. Organized by Adepa FM Station, a local FM in Techiman, the exercise was participated by the NPP, PNC, CPP, NDC, DFP, civil society clubs and members of Adepa Fun Club. Supt. Ntim appealed to the aspiring Parliamentary candidates to campaign diligently and not to hurl insults at each other as that could create unnecessary tension. He commended Mr. Frank Asare, Executive Director of the radio station “for bringing all the parties together to learn to live in unity and co-existence”.

Mr. Asare said it was the aim of the station to preach peace and it was the first to organize such a programme in Techiman. He called on supporters of the various political parties not to let their political leaders deceive them to bring violence as happened in some African countries. The executive director urged them to seek the interest of the nation and the people. The aspiring candidates and chairmen of the various political parties promised to conduct their campaigns decently to ensure that peace prevailed during and after the general election.
