Rainstorm hits communities

Amasaman (GA), June 27, GNA – A severe rainstorm which hit seven communities near Amasaman in the Ga West District last week has rendered about 500 people homeless.

The affected communities are Ofankor, Santa Maria, Mile-7, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo, Achiaman and Medie. The rainstorm ripped off the roofs of about 100 houses.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr. Eric Quartey Papafio, District Chief Executive for Ga West said the storm also affected the only school built by the Canadian government at Obeyeyie and an orphanage home. He said meanwhile some of the affected people are staying with friends and relatives.
