Rainstorm causes havoc in Western Region

The rainstorm that hit the Western Region last Saturday wreaked havoc on some communities in the Region.

Some of the communities in the Shama District are Ohiamadwen,Chiefgapokrom, Sofokrom and Beposo, as well as Prestea and Assakai in the Prestea Huni/Valley and Sekondi-Takoradi districts respectively.

The Western Regional Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) told the GNA on Monday that, a teenage girl was injured at Ohiamadwen when a building collapsed on her and is receiving treatment at the hospital.

The storm, which was followed by torrential rains, ripped-off roofs of buildings, uprooted trees ,pulled down billboards, kiosk and tore electricity cables.

He said the Zonal and District coordinators of NADMO are taking records of affected persons and property in order to provide relief items to them, and appealed for support from corporate organisations.**
