Rainfall disrupts re-opening of national registration exercise

Nkawkaw, Aug. 2, GNA – An early downpour affected the re-opening of the voters registration exercise in the Kwahu West Municipality. Though all the electoral officials at the 18 selected centres were present with their registration materials, the rain prevented the people to go to the centres to register.

However, over 300 people have been registered as at 1330 hours when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited ten registration centres in the municipality.

When the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mrs Abigail Amponsah was contacted, she said enough electoral materials had been distributed to all the registration centres in the municipality and appealed to the youth who have attained 18 years and above and those who could not register during the last registration exercise to register to enable them to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general election. At the various registration centres in the Municipality, it was only the New Patriot Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) that have agents who were monitoring the registration exercise at the centres.
