Railway rehabilitation is underway

Ayanfuri (W/R), Feb. 16, GNA – Mr. Mike Hammah, the Minister of Transport, has commended workers and management of the Ghana Railway company (GRC) for working hard to restore the Western rail line. He said the ongoing rehabilitation was as a result of government support for GRC towards limited re-aligning of the lines, clearing of weeds, replacement of worn-out sleepers among others.

Mr. Hammah appealed to management to work hard and transform the GRC and make it one of the best transport systems in the country. He said the persistent derailment could be stopped if all efforts were made to regularly maintain the lines.

Dr Clement hammah, Board Chairman, said though lots of work needed to be done, management would work extra hard to transform the company. He said the rail sector needed massive financial investment and constant rehabilitation and upgrading.

Dr. Hammah said there was the need to encourage the workers to change their attitude to work and motivate the hardworking ones to give off their best.
