Queen mothers urged to be proactive

Denkyira Ankako (C/R), April 11, GNA – The Chief of Jukwa in the Central Region has appealed to queen mothers to endeavour to be proactive and assist to create micro-economic ventures for women in their communities to make them self-reliant.

Nana Afrifa Yamoah II, Chief of Jukwa, made the appeal on Sunday at the installation of Nana Yaa Sekyiwah II, a new Queen mother for Denkyira Ankako.

He said economic support would enhance the empowerment of women and enable them to stay away from anti-social practices. He appealed to citizens of the community to embrace and register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them enjoy quality health care.

Nana Yaa Sekyiwah thanked the chiefs and elders of the community for the honour done her and promised to live above reproach. She repeated calls on women to be frugal in their funeral expenses and to invest such monies in their children’s education, and also advised them to refrain from indiscriminate sex to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS disease.
