Quaye to contest Ablekuma Central NPP Primary

Accra, April 3, GNA – Mr Jonathan Korkwei Quaye, an Accra private legal practitioner, has filed his nomination papers to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primary in the Ablekuma Central Constituency.

“I have to heed the clarion call by the youth, opinion leaders and the constituents to lead the Constituency to victory,” the 54-year old lawyer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Thursday after filing his papers.

Mr Quaye said the constituents had found a redeemer in him, adding, “they need a change for new ideas; they need a team leader and a unifier, which they find in me”. He said after winning the primary, he would do everything possible to retain the Ablekuma Central seat for the NPP. The incumbent MP is Mr Okuley Nortey.

Mr Quaye identified flood-prone areas, a poor road system and absence of street lights, as the major problems facing the constituency, and gave the assurance that when given the chance to serve the people, he would help find workable solutions to them.

“I will champion the cause of developing the constituency, by lobbying government to come to the aid of my constituents.” On the Common Fund, Mr. Quaye said when given the nod to finally become the Member of Parliament, he would ensure that the fund was applied judiciously to improve the standards of living of the constituents, irrespective of their political affiliation. He expressed the hope that all the aspirants would conduct their campaigns in a manner that would address critical issues affecting the constituency, and refrain from insults, defamation or assassination of character.
