PTAs handover school block to school authorities

Tamale, Dec.3, GNA – The Parent/Teacher Association of the Anbariya Islamic Institute in collaboration with the Old Students Association on Saturday handed over a nine-room school block to the authorities of the Institute in Tamale.

The project valued at 620 million cedis was put-up with contributions from parents and old students and other fundraising activities.

Three out of the nine-rooms would be used for Nursery while the Junior Secondary School would occupy the remaining six rooms. The occasion was also used for the handing over of a 10 million cedi borehole for the Institute. The Rotary Club of Monitowoc Wisconsin in the USA, through the Carter Centre in Tamale provided the money for the borehole.

Speaking at the forum, Madam Alexandra Sopeneh, Tamale Metropolitan Director of Education commended the complementary efforts of the PTAs and Old Students Association of the Institute.

She urged parents to take keen interest in the education of their children, especially the girl-child to empower them economically to contribute their quota to the development of the country. Madam Sopeneh described education, as an appreciated wealth, worthy of conferring on children and all parents must not play with it. She assured authorities of the Institute of the Metro Education Directorate unflinching support to make the school a place of excellence of higher learning in the metropolis.

Mr. Inusah Fuseini, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, presented Islamic reading books donated by the Saudi Embassy to the Institute to enhance quality teaching and learning. A representative of the Carter Centre, Mr. Amin Seidu said because of the acute water situation in Metropolis, the Country Director of the Carter Centre, Mr. Jim Niguette, saw it necessary to provide the Institute with a borehole to supply the children with potable water.
