Prof Kaburise to contest Energy Minister in NPP primary

Tamale, July 5, GNA – Professor John Bonaventure Kubongpwa Kaburise, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), on Thursday declared his intention to contest the NPP Navrongo Central constituency primary.

“I am the best candidate with rich and vast experience to liberate my constituents from the numerous hardships they have gone through over the years,” the 57-year-old professor told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

He said he had taught for over 30 years in about five continents and had experienced the political terrain including giving advice to both local and international politicians and “it is this versatile wisdom that I wish to impart to Ghanaian politics.”

The former Vice-Chancellor said he had developed a lot of networks both locally and internationally in educational, social and economic fields adding: “I can use these to bring development to the doorstep of the people and new ideas for efficient management of the Ghanaian economy”.

Prof. Kaburise said he had been a member of the NPP since 2000 but had remained neutral while in office as the Vice-Chancellor of the UDS. “The NPP, with me as the candidate, is the best political party to salvage the people of Navrongo,” he said, adding: “Politics is about management of the resources to improve the lives of the people especially the suffering masses”.

The Prof, who has already started an intensive campaign in his constituency, said the Youth Wing of the NPP and traditional leaders had already thrown their weight behind him with the conviction that he could best address their needs.

He said he had firmly established his financial security already adding: “I don’t need politics to survive. I am only out to serve my people to put value to their lives”.
