Producer price inflation increased to 4.8% in September 2026, up from 4.4% in August, Government Statistician Dr Alhassan Iddrisu has announced.
The figure means producers received prices for goods and services that were, on average, 4.8% higher than in September 2025. The measure tracks prices at the factory gate, before products reach shops and other outlets.

Mining and quarrying accounted for 2.4 percentage points of the overall 4.8% producer inflation recorded in September. Within the sector, prices for crude oil and natural gas increased by 18.3% over the year.
Manufacturing inflation also moved higher, rising from 3.6% in August to 4.6% in September 2026. Mining and manufacturing combined contributed 4.0 percentage points to the total producer inflation rate.
Electricity and gas recorded the highest inflation rate among the sub-sectors, at 9.8%. That was nevertheless lower than the 12.3% recorded in August.
Dr Iddrisu gave the figures at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, October 20, where he highlighted the possible effect of producer prices on consumers.
“Prices at the factory gate today can shape prices in the shops tomorrow.
“I encourage businesses to use these data to plan costs and prices, households to plan budgets, and policymakers to track price pressures in mining, manufacturing and energy.”
