Prison officer shot dead by robbers in Atebubu

A prison officer was shot and killed while another was fatally injured when suspected robbers accosted their vehicle at Atebubu/Amantin in the Brong Ahafo region Sunday.

The deceased Nana Yaw Antwi and his colleagues were reportedly returning from a wedding ceremony when the incident happened.

They were attacked in the Akokoa township where Yaw Antwi was killed through a bullet while another, Paul Gyan, sustained gunshot wounds and in a critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The armed robbers took away two service uniforms and a gun from their victims who were traveling with their ununiformed senior officers.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Atebubu government hospital.
