Priest says church should seek welfare of members

The Very Rev. Oswald Samuel Kwadwo Boakye, out-going Synod Secretary of the Sunyani Methodist Diocese, has appealed to churches to seek the welfare of their members, especially the unemployed youth.

He said the church ought to focus on both the spiritual growth and material needs of members.

Very Rev. Boakye, the Superintendent Minister of the Sunyani Circuit of the Church, said this when he delivered a sermon at a send-off service the diocese organized for him at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Sunyani.

He urged churches to seek the material needs of their members, support and empower the youth to enable them become self reliant.

The Right Rev. Kofi Asare-Bediako, Methodist Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese, said the church would continue to remember the contributions of Very Rev. Boakye towards the spiritual growth and development of members.

The Diocese presented a Mercedes Benz saloon car and an undisclosed sum of money to the Very Rev. Boakye.
