Prestea galamsey operator jailed for 12 months.

A Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced Kojo Debrah, a galamsey operator, to 12 months imprisonment for unlawfully entering a room of a teacher and causing damage to properties worth GH¢210.

He pleaded guilty.

Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that the complainant and the convict both reside in Prestea and on July 16, left home with his children to their respective work places in town.

He said at about 1300 hours on that same day a neighbor returned home and overheard unusual noise in the complainant bedroom.

Detective Amponsah said the neighbor looked through the back window and saw Debrah ransacking personal belongings in the room.

He said the neighbor quickly raised alarm and with the help of other residents the offender was arrested and handed over to the Prestea police.

Detective Amponsah said when the police inspected the crime scene they detected that both the back window and a wire mesh was damaged with a sharp object and one suitcase had been destroyed with a stone.**
