President’s nominee for Nkwanta North District rejected

Kpassa (V/R) April 10, GNA- Mr Abdulai Fulamba, President John Agyekum Kufuor’s nominee for the office of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the newly created Nkwanta North District in the Volta Region, on Wednesday failed to get the endorsement of the 17-member assembly. Mr Fulamba, a businessman polled seven votes thus fallen short of the two-thirds majority approval required, at the assembly’s meeting to approve his nomination at Kpassa.

Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, expressed disappointment at the failure of the assembly to give the President’s nominee the nod. He said the entire process of appointing a DCE would be carried out again in conformity with the provisions of the Local Government Act. Mr. Dzamesi called for unity among assembly members and urged them to ensure that the development of the new district was their overriding concern. Present at the event were Mr Charles Bintim Minister of State at the Office of the President, Mr Joseph Kwaku Nayanm deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Denteh, Nkwanta South District Chief Executive and Mr Jackson Jakai Presiding Member of Nkwanta North District.
